External Sales Person

University of Fort Hare
South African Rand . ZAR 200,000 - 300,000

Job Description

Monthly Cost To Company (Market related)

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused External Sales Person to join our team at the Pretoria branch. This hybrid role offers the perfect balance between in-branch relationship management and on-the-road client engagement. If you enjoy working closely with customers, nurturing long-term partnerships, and promoting technical products, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

About the Role

In this role, you will spend approximately 50% of your time in-branch managing internal sales and customer support, and 50% on external sales, visiting clients to maintain and grow existing relationships. You will play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction, achieving sales targets, and representing our brand professionally across all client interactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with existing clients.
  • Visit distributors, installers, and commercial customers to provide support and promote products.
  • Ensure that in-store displays, marketing materials, and product information are always up to date.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the Pretoria region and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct product presentations and training sessions for customers and partners.
  • Provide accurate feedback and sales reports to the Branch Manager.
  • Support internal sales operations, including order processing, handling queries, and resolving customer issues.
  • Stay informed about new and existing products to effectively advise clients.
  • Contribute to team initiatives, branch meetings, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Requirements
  • Matric (a technical or mechanical/electronic background is an advantage).
  • 1-2 years' experience in a technical sales or related customer-facing environment.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans and English is essential, as you will interact directly with a largely Afrikaans-speaking customer base.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric approach.
  • Confident, energetic, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Computer literate (MS Office Suite) with exposure to an ERP system.
  • Valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime when required.
  • Technical aptitude (mechanical or electronic understanding) will be beneficial.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a service-oriented professional who enjoys maintaining relationships and supporting existing clients rather than focusing on aggressive new business development. The ideal candidate will be approachable, proactive, and adaptable, with a genuine interest in delivering value to our customers.

Please note that only suitable candidates will be contacted.
