Executive Pastry Chef (Safari Resort) KZN, Live-in
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to manage the preparation and presentation of all pastries, baked goods, and desserts at a luxury Big 5 safari lodge in KZN. Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef / Executive Chef, this role is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation across all dining experiences, in line with five-star lodge requirements.
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Senior Pastry Chef in a luxury hotel or lodge environment
- Strong pastry, baking, and dessert production skills
- Experience working in a five-star or luxury hospitality kitchenSound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen safety standards
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and public holidays
Duties
- Prepare, bake, and present pastries, breads, desserts, and confectionery to five-star standards
- Ensure consistency in quality, portion control, recipes, and presentation
- Develop new dessert items and seasonal menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef
- Supervise and support pastry staff during preparation and service
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and proper storage within the pastry section
- Monitor stock levels, control wastage, and assist with ordering ingredients
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations
- Contribute to a positive guest dining experience through high-quality dessert offerings
