Red Ember Recruitment is seeking to appoint two experienced Estimators - Shipchandlers for a client operating within the maritime supply sector.

• Receive and assess Shipchandling enquiries from clients, ensuring detailed understanding of product specifications and requirements.
• Prepare accurate and timely quotations using internal pricing structures, mark-ups, and applicable foreign exchange rates.
• Conduct strategic sourcing of suppliers and products (local and international) using existing databases, market research, and other tools.
• Liaise with suppliers to gather up-to-date pricing, availability, and lead times for accurate estimating.
• Maintain and update price lists, supplier data, and historical costing for future reference and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the sales team to follow up on submitted quotations to secure orders and provide technical support as needed.
• Negotiate with suppliers and clients to ensure competitive pricing and maximize profitability.
• Work closely with operations to align costing with delivery timelines and logistics requirements.
• Support invoice preparation and verification based on final estimates and actual supply.
• Assist in analysing quotation success rates and market competitiveness to improve future estimations.
• Suggest process improvements to streamline the estimating workflow within the Shipchandling Division.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of all estimations and costing activity for auditing and reporting purposes.

• Participate in business development initiatives by supporting pricing strategies and market positioning.
• Promote the company's Shipchandling services across South Africa, Namibia, and beyond.
• Engage with ship captains and maritime personnel to understand recurring needs and refine estimating practices accordingly.

• Minimum 3 years' experience as Estimator or Marine Supply, with a strong background in pricing and estimating.
• ERP system experience is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in costing and data management.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for costing, data analysis, and reporting.
• A solution-driven mindset and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
