Job Description

  • Administer deceased estates by independently driving the deceased estates process from the drafting of the liquidation and distribution (L&D) account to file closure, within regulatory guidelines.
  • The ability to draft all estate-related accounts and documents, in accordance with the required standards.
  • Ensuring that estate administration milestones are met within the business duration targets.
  • Identify risks in estates, as well as identifying potential difficulties early in the estate administration process.
  • Finding solutions and taking the necessary steps required to overcome obstacles in the estate administration process.
  • Assess and manage the cash needs of estates, effectively.
  • Keeping heirs, financial advisers and other relevant parties informed of the progress with the estate by providing updates, at least every 14 days, via the estates operating system.
  • Ensure end portfolio target is achieved, for business targets to be met.
  • Winding up estates from inception to finalisation, which involves - but is not limited to - liaising with heirs, interested parties, institutions, Master of the High Court, SARS.
  • Drafting of L&D accounts, final distribution statements, cash reconciliations, transferring assets, paying liabilities, and meeting all requirements to obtain a filing slip from the Master of the High Court.
What we look for in our ideal candidate Education and experience requirements
  • Matric
  • Appropriate qualification or Deceased Estates Diploma would be an advantage
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience managing a portfolio of estates independently, within a professional deceased estates administration environment
  • Legal, fiduciary or trust background essential
  • Knowledge of legalese would be an advantage
  • Proficient in MS-Office
  • Good knowledge of the entire estate administration process
  • Quick learning ability
