Introduction

The Employee Relations Manager will be expected to: Provide high quality Industrial and Employee Relations advice and services. Manage and resolve complex Employee Relations issues. Conduct effective, fit-for-purpose and objective investigations and manage disciplinary processes Represent the company at CCMA/MEIBC-CDR for referred cases. Maintain in-depth knowledge of Legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing Legal Risks and ensuring Regulatory Compliance Policy development and implementation in relation to Industrial and Employee Relations matters.

Employee Relations
  • Provide high quality Industrial and Employee Relations advice and services
  • Manage and resolve complex Employee Relations issues. Conduct effective, fit-for-purpose and objective investigations and coordinate disciplinary processes
  • Represent the company at the MEIBC-CDR and CCMA in Conciliations and Arbitrations
  • Manage internal grievances lodged by the unions and individual employees and ensure they are resolved expeditiously
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing Legal Risks and ensuring Regulatory Compliance
  • Partner with the HR Executive & the company Lawyers as and when required
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation in relation to Industrial and Employee Relations matters
  • Create a harmonious work environment where diversity and inclusion are embraced
  • Act as a Change Agent to drive Transformation in the business
  • Attend the disciplinary hearing and advise the Chairpersons
  • Identify and/or evaluate causes of conflict and propose appropriate corrective action
  • Manage and deliver IR-related training, including Chairpersons training and educating managers how to initiate disciplinary hearings
  • Provide support to management and staff in managing performance and assist in the analysis of plans to resolve any identified performance problems
  • Work with the Occupational Health Nurse to track and manage abuse of sick leave and address it through counsel process as prescribed by the company policy
  • Monitor the labour relations practices of HR to the business
  • Monitor developments within the labour relations field and advise on best labour relations practices
  • Provides advice to HR managers and Officers and line managers in respect of procedural and substantive fairness issues
  • IR Reporting
  • Reports on IR Activity throughout the organization
  • Monitor internal labour relations trends and submit relevant reports
  • Remain apprised of all changes or relevant news, and provide analysis and report on same
Compliance
  • Comply with Corporate Governance
  • Ensure compliance with Legislation i.e. BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSACT and SDA
  • Identify and report HR risks
  • Ensure risks are mitigated
Performance Excellence
  • Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time-to-time by management
Application Criteria
  • B Degree/Post Graduate/Diploma or Honours Degree in HRM or LRM
Experience Skills Requirement
  • CCMA/Bargaining Council Arbitration
  • Labour legislations
  • Drafting and amending of policiesIndustrial Relations
  • EE & SD Committee Management

(MINIMUM time required for each above 3-5 Years)

Computer Literacy

Experience in Microsoft Windows, Advanced Word and Excel
