Job Description

Qualifying Criteria:

  • Grade 10, 11, 12, or equivalent qualification
  • N2 in Engineering studies in Electrical will be advantageous
  • 1-2 years' experience in Electrical Engineering in a mining or industrialized environment is essential and required
  • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
  • Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces
  • The applicant must possess good verbal communication skills
  • Studying towards an Electrical Engineering Trade will be an added advantage
  • South African Citizenship
  • Clear Criminal Record

Responsibilities:

  • Work a cycle or rotation of shifts
  • Assist Artisan(s) in carrying out their duties efficiently by providing support and carrying the toolbox, hand tools and other equipment
  • Maintain tools and equipment and safely keep hand tools
  • Able to disassemble and re-assemble electrical apparatus / components and equipment using hand tools
  • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets using hand tools
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections using hand tools
  • Manage and maintain in area of responsibility in accordance with mine standards, procedures and practices
  • Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1's safety motto: "Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely."
