A leading FMCG company is seeking a highly organised, hands on Dispatch Manager to take ownership of its busy distribution function in Pretoria. This is a fast paced role suited to a proactive leader who thrives on coordinating people, processes, and logistics to ensure seamless delivery operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesPeople & Operations Management
- Lead and manage dispatch staff, ensuring discipline, performance, and productivity standards are maintained
- Liaise closely with HR on employee matters, including disciplinary processes and staff queries
- Manage department headcount and request additional resources when required
- Ensure compliance with company policies, including uniform and safety standards
Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Oversee daily dispatch planning, including load scheduling, route allocation, and truck availability
- Liaise with fleet department regarding vehicle issues and ensure minimal disruption to deliveries
- Work closely with clerks, sales reps, and debtors to resolve order, delivery, and account queries
- Authorise after hours loads in line with company procedures and approvals
Planning & Scheduling
- Ensure all orders are captured accurately and timeously on the system
- Monitor stock availability and coordinate with production to meet delivery requirements
- Compile and manage provisional and final delivery schedules
- Ensure picking and loading documentation is prepared and executed efficiently
Customer & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain strong communication with wholesale and retail representatives regarding delivery updates and issues
- Proactively resolve customer delivery challenges and ensure all stakeholders are informed
- Manage retail delivery schedules, ensuring adherence to agreed timelines
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate track and trace records for HACCP and audit purposes
- Conduct spot checks on documentation, petty cash, and operational processes
- Ensure all dispatch records are properly filed and easily accessible
- Proven experience in a dispatch, logistics, or warehouse management role within an FMCG environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem solving abilities
- Experience working with stock systems, delivery scheduling, and fleet coordination
- Solid understanding of compliance requirements (HACCP knowledge advantageous)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage after hours operational requirements
