Depot Manager

We are seeking a driven and experienced Depot Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and Transfer Station in North West Manchester. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing day to day site performance, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong team engagement.

The client has ambitious plans for the development of the site over the coming months, that will see an increase in the sites productivity and diversification of recycling processes. As such this role will be crucial in ensuring the success of the business moving forwards.

• Operational Leadership - Oversee all MRF and Transfer Station activities to ensure efficient processing of waste materials.
• Manage inbound and outbound waste streams in line with permits and duty of care legislation.
• Compliance & Safety - Take full responsibility for site health, safety, and environmental standards. Promote a strong safety first culture across the team.
• People Management - Lead, motivate, and develop site staff. Manage staffing levels and shifts to maintain operational performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement - Liaise with regulators, customers, and internal teams.
• Manage site budgets and resources effectively.
• Produce operational reports, forecasts, and performance data.

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
• Management experience within waste, recycling, or heavy industry.
• Proven leadership and team management ability.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Experience with automated sorting or recycling systems.
• Formal management training.
• Knowledge of environmental permits and waste legislation.

You'll be a proactive, hands on leader with a strong safety mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You should be results focused, highly organised, and capable of motivating teams while driving continuous improvement across operations.
