SummaryWe are currently recruiting for a Deckhand to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. Working hours vary and you must be flexible to operational requirements. Please note that this is a full-time, permanent position.
What you will be doing:- Cleaning and preparing boat surfaces that includes but not limited to GRP, stainless steel and cushions according to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of THL
- Assist with the moving of yachts
- Assist with the loading of yachts when the relevant freighter arrives
- Securing yachts, which entails that batteries are switched off, hatches and doors locked, equipment removed of the boat and moorings lines adequately secured by end of each day
- Highlighting cosmetic and functional faults found on boats to the Commissioning Agent
- Cleaning, washing and polishing boat surfaces in preparation for protection
- Applying protective coatings and plastic covering on applicable yacht surfaces
- Log all activity and surfaces attended to accurately on the checksheets
- Keep work spaces neat and tidy
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player with a flexible and hands-on attitude
- Strong work ethic
- Able and willing to move around yachts/dock
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Available to work on weekends as required
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
- Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
