PURPOSEAs a DBA you are required to provide thought leadership, management, and operational oversight of the Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, & MSSQL database environments, their associated operating systems, the management and application toolsets, and the support teams delivering the database service, including ensuring the strategy is aligned to Company Strategy, effective stakeholder engagement and full compliance with SLA100, PCI and POPI.

- Application Support teams

Your Key Responsibilities- Ensure team goals are aligned to BU strategy, documented, clearly understood, and regularly reviewed.
- Ensure team manages and delivers on internal and external stakeholder requirements/SLA's.
- Identify and scope opportunities for improvement / innovation.
- Deploy client or company specific projects in line with company standards and in agreement with line manager.
- Ensure day to day operations of the database environment are healthy and available to all services as required and all health checks completed.
- Ensure effective Database resources, servers, systems, applications, hardware, software, and monitoring.
- Ensure database are performing optimally and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinates access control levels to the databases environment
- Database security patches and upgrades
- Ensure backups and recovery concepts are adhered in terms of disaster recovery.
- Weekly and Monthly ICT reports
- Develop maintenance/operational schedules and procedures for all database environments.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are executed according to approved operational procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant policies & procedures, regulation, and legislation
- Risk: Ensure risks are reported on and mitigated
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in IT/Computer Science is recommended.
- Oracle Certification (OCP) preferable or extensive knowledge of Oracle Database architecture and concepts
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX/LINUX scripting
- Knowledge of Database security techniques
- Good knowledge of performance tuning of Oracle databases
- Cloud Knowledge/Certification of AWS / Azure / Oracle cloud required.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL is advantageous
- Minimum 5-15 years' experience in IT Division or in a corporate IT Company
- Minimum 10 years' experience in database management in a large organization.
- Minimum 5-15 years actively supporting/maintaining an enterprise database infrastructure, broad work experience including administration, in Enterprise environment.
