A vacancy exists in the Accounts Receivable Department for a Credit Controller Intern reporting to the Group Credit Control Lead. Credit Controller must have strong financial and analytical skills to assess credit risk and manage debtor accounts effectively. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities are essential for handling customers and resolving payment issues professionally. They need solid organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet collection deadlines. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel supports accurate reporting and record-keeping. Knowledge of credit policies, financial regulations, and compliance standards ensures responsible credit management. Finally, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills help maintain productive relationships across departments and with clients.

  • A Credit Controller's purpose is to minimise financial risk, improve cash flow, and support the financial stability of the organization by efficiently managing customer credit and debt collection
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Assess and approve credit applications based on financial risk and payment history.
  • Chase overdue payments through calls, emails, and statements while maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve payment discrepancies or disputes.
  • Prepare regular reports on debtor balances, aged debt, and collection performance.
  • Set and review credit limits in line with company policy.
  • Work closely with sales and finance teams to align credit terms with contracts and business objectives.
  • Minimise bad debts through proactive credit management and escalation procedures.
  • Provenexperiencein credit control, accounts receivable, or financial administration.
  • Trackrecord of successful debt collectionand maintaining low overdue balances.
  • Experiencewith credit assessmentand setting customer credit limits.
  • Hands-on experienceusing accounting or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Maconomy).
  • Proficiencyin Excelfor reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis.
  • Backgroundin customer account management, including resolving payment disputes.
  • Familiaritywith financial reportingand preparing aged debt or cash flow reports.
  • Experienceworking cross-functionallywith sales, finance, and operations teams.
  • Knowledgeof credit control policies and legal compliancerelated to debt collection and data protection.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration - preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and basic accounting software.
  • Additional credit management or bookkeeping training (e.g., from the Institute of Credit Management) is an advantage.
