Job PurposeTo coordinate the Work Integrated Learning Programme for the designated academic department including but not limited to building strong industry network, development of employer base for student placement, development of work preparedness programmes, assessment of students, monitoring and evaluation of students, and placement visits.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Relevant Degree/ B Tech Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration, Public Management, Governance, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, Industrial or Organisational Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
- 3 years' working experience in facilitating and coordinating work integrated learning programmes.
- Market and promote work integrated learning in industry.
- Establish employer and other relationships with regards to student training needs.
- Develop and expand the employer base for student placements.
- Coordinate Advisory Committee meetings.
- Structure and design a Work Integrated Learning Programme.
- Curriculate work-based learning in line with NQF and SAQA requirements.
- Assess work integrated learning projects of students according to set assessment criteria.
- Fully inform students of suitable career paths and available opportunities in industry.
- Coach the student in effective methods whereby his / her assessments can be successfully compiled.
- Assist students with personal and work integrated learning related problems.
- Facilitate student professional development.
- Coach students in methods for preparing work integrated learning projects.
- Orientate students.
- Monitor / Visit students in industry.
- Mediate between students and supervisors.
- Update and extend the Subject Guide to comply with present needs of students and employers.
- Develop a competency-based assessment system.
- Improve throughput rates.
- Monitor satisfaction of students and employers alike with regards to the work integrated learning programme.
- Present the Work Preparedness Programme.
- Conduct class-learning exercises with regards to aspects which are relevant to workplace learning.
- Ensure that students are fully versed with the integration of academic content and workplace learning.
- Improve knowledge and competencies.
- Manage and control placement of students in industry.
- To run an interactive information gathering session during conferences on work integrated learning.
- Attend short courses.
- Monitor and record satisfaction of students regarding execution of the work integrated learning programme.
- Improve work integrated learning programme content.
- Ensure that student progress reports are accurate and regularly updated.
- Develop and maintain an effective administration system.
- Improve links with faculty members.
- Establish links with new employers.
- Maintain links with students, employers and faculty members.
