Job Description

Join our clients dynamic Compliance Unit as a Compliance Intern, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring our adherence to regulatory requirements, best practice guidelines, and internal policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in fostering a culture of compliance under the guidance of the Compliance Officer.
  • Support compliance with relevant laws and regulations impacting insurers and financial services providers, focusing on FAIS, PPR, POPIA, FICA, and the Insurance Act.
  • Contribute to the development of risk-based Monitoring Plans.
  • Take ownership of Compliance Monitoring activities.
  • Manage changes in FAIS profiles and report on compliance levels.
  • Present findings and engage effectively with management.
  • Maintain the Noncompliance Register and support ad hoc compliance initiatives.
  • Assist in regulatory reviews, inspections, and investigations.
  • Contribute to compliance awareness and training initiatives.
  • Review and help develop relevant policies.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance in monitoring industry developments and emerging legislation.
  • Report on new laws and their impact on our operations, ensuring awareness and understanding.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • LLB, Risk Management, or BCom qualification.
  • Compliance Management Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Compliance (preferred).
  • 1 year of compliance experience (advantageous).
  • Solid understanding of financial services legislation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with strong reporting skills.
