CMM & QC Supervisor - Lead Quality Excellence in Precision Engineering

A well-established engineering and manufacturing business within the steel and automotive sector is seeking an experienced CMM & QC Supervisor to join their team in Alberton. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-driven professional from the Automotive Industry to take ownership of QC processes, lead a team, and drive continuous improvement in a high-precision CNC environment.

Reporting to: SHEQ Manager

Staff Reporting: 3 Quality Controllers

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support Quality Control (QC) processes to ensure product compliance and consistency
  • Supervise and guide QC Inspectors, ensuring optimal team performance
  • Set up and operate CMM equipment, interpreting measurement results accurately
  • Conduct SPC, MSA, and NDT activities, providing actionable insights and recommendations
  • Develop, maintain, and improve quality documentation (procedures, control plans, work instructions)
  • Monitor QC performance metrics, analyse data, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Manage non-conforming products in line with company policies and quality standards
  • Support APQP processes and collaborate with Engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Participate in and/or lead internal audits
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QC function
  • Ensure training and competency of QC team members
Candidate Requirements
  • Matric with relevant advanced training in ISO9001 and IATF16949 (Implementation, FMEA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis, Internal Auditing)
  • 1+ year in a QC role using CMM (with formal qualification), OR
  • 4+ years in QC/CNC environment with at least 1 year CMM experience
  • At least 2 years' experience within the automotive sector
Strong Knowledge of
  • Steel manufacturing and machining processes
  • Mechanical properties of steel
  • Technical drawings and GD&T interpretation
  • SPC analysis and quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, Control Plans)
  • Measuring instruments and QC methodologies
  • Basic CAD knowledge (PolyWorks advantageous)
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and leadership capability
  • Ability to work under pressure and both independently and within a team
  • Own reliable transport and willingness to travel when required
  • Working Hours (This role operates primarily on a day shift, with occasional requirements to work night shift or handover shifts as needed)
  • Day Shift: Monday to Thursday - 07:00 to 16:30 (Overtime if required)
  • Night Shift: Monday to Thursday - 19:00 to 05:30 (Overtime if required)
  • Friday Night Overtime if required - 19:00 to 05:30
