Clinical Trainer
Job Description
Position Purpose:The Clinical Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating clinical training programs that support PHA's healthcare service offerings across clinical, pharmaceutical, and call centre environments. The role ensures that all clinical staff maintain competency, adhere to regulatory requirements, uphold patient safety, and operate according to PHA's clinical protocol, systems, and quality standards. The Clinical Trainer will translate evidence based guidelines into practical training that drives excellence in service delivery, clinical governance, and operational performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or B. Pharm or Healthcare Sciences, or a related clinical field.
- Professional registration with a relevant healthcare regulatory body (where applicable).
- Qualification in Education, Training, or Clinical Facilitation is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of clinical practice experience in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and healthcare regulations.
Training Development
- Design and develop clinical training materials, manuals, and learning resources aligned with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Update training content to reflect current clinical guidelines, legislation, and evidence-based practices.
- Develop competency frameworks and assessment tools for clinical staff.
- Ensure all materials comply with SANC/SAPC/HPCSA, NDoH, OHSC and POPIA requirements.
- Develop clinical competency frameworks, skills checklists, and assessment tools.
- Create digital and blended learning content using modern training platforms and tools (eLearning, microlearning, simulations).
Training Delivery
- Facilitate classroom, virtual, and practical clinical training sessions for staff.
- Deliver onboarding and orientation programs for newly recruited clinical personnel.
- Provide demonstrations of clinical procedures, equipment use, and patient care protocols.
- Support continuous professional development for healthcare staff.
- Train staff on PHA systems and tools (call centre platforms, clinical documentation systems).
- Deliver training related to clinical risk management, quality practices, protocols, and service standards.
Competency Assessment
- Conduct clinical competency assessments, evaluations, and practical demonstrations.
- Monitor staff performance during training and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify learning gaps using performance trends, audit findings, and call centre quality reviews.
- Implement targeted training interventions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure training programs align with healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance registers, and competency documentation.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance reviews.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and clinical quality metric enhancements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with clinical managers, healthcare professionals, and HR to identify training needs.
- Support implementation of new clinical protocols, technologies, or healthcare initiatives.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to clinical staff where required.
- Assist with training related to escalations, incident findings, and quality/risk issues.

- Occasional weekend training sessions may be required due to Bonita's mass recruitment.
- May involve early hours before 8am or late hours after 4h30pm training to accommodate the Call Centres.
