Job Purpose The Chief People Officer will lead the company's people operations with a strong emphasis on process execution, organisational effectiveness, and sustained business performance. Serving as the catalyst for operational excellence, the CPO will design and implement scalable processes that strengthen consistency, enhance accuracy, and provide dependable support across all people-related functions. Responsibilities Corporate Strategy Shaping Shape the company's long-term vision and ensuring that people operations align with organisational priorities. Involves guiding decisions on structure, resource allocation, and process design to support growth and efficiency. Functional Strategy Formation Develop and execute strategies within the people function that align with the company's overall corporate objectives, translating vision into actionable operational plans. Board Relationship Develop and improve relationships with Board members, identifying priorities, issues and strategic challenges and preparing them for discussion. Work is focused on a business or group of businesses, or a strategic function that has scale and global reach, or a large, relatively autonomous subsidiary. HR Frameworks and Tools Lead the development of HR frameworks and tools to meet business needs, ensuring coherence across national boundaries and compliance with external legal requirements. Leadership and Direction Communicate the organisation's mission, vision, values, and strategic direction with clarity and purpose. Define and articulate the strategy and broad action plan within the function, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Inspire and engage a diverse workforce to embrace these principles and deliver exceptional results that advance the company's business objectives. Information and Business Advice Provide authoritative specialist advice to the leadership team, guiding the implementation of policy and shaping the design and delivery of projects and change initiatives. Strategic Workforce Planning Lead the creation of a strategic workforce plan that provides a framework for sourcing and developing talent, enabling the effective delivery of the organization's business strategy. Stakeholder Engagement Identify and manage key stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, understanding their needs, issues, and concerns, and respond by leading and coordinating the development of engagement plans that support clear communication of business information and decisions. Corporate Representation Represent the organisation in external relations with investors, clients, the public and others. Will focus on a significant function or equivalent area of the business. Performance Management Manage and report on business performance; hold direct reports accountable for achievement of business plans and take corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives, balancing the need to deliver short term business objectives with the longer term delivery of stakeholder value. Organisation Structure Define the detailed organisation structure for a significant function or small local business to align with corporate principles, define the relationship between elements of the organisation, and define the responsibilities of senior managers, to enable the organisation to achieve its business objectives. Organisational Capability Building Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs of a significant function. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritise development activities. Embed personal development and the fulfilment of personal potential in the culture of the organisation. Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods. Internal Client Relationship Management Lead the development of strong partnering relationships with senior executives, building professional credibility and mutual trust. Ensure stakeholders have access to high-quality advice and guidance that supports effective communication of business information and decisions, enabling the successful delivery of strategic plans. Operations Management Serve as the driver of consistency and reliability in all people-related functions, ensuring processes support organisational growth and efficiency. Stakeholder Management Direct the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies across the portfolio to ensure development of key relationships and to ensure that each stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice at both a strategic and operational level. Continuous Improvement Lead the review of existing operations and the implementation of innovation processes across the business to ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered. Process Optimisation Design, implement, and continuously refine workflows to improve accuracy, scalability, and reliability across people operations. Operational Compliance Lead the implementation of the organisation's policies and procedures within a strategic function to minimise business risk and protect the organisation's reputation. Create a business culture that places value on the principles that underlie external regulation and the creation of voluntary codes of practice, and on adherence to these Education Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Master's degree in a relevant field, demonstrating advanced analytical, technical, or organisational expertise with the ability to design strategy and manage complex operations (Essential) Experience 15 or more years' proven experience developing and implementing strategy, working with senior leaders, managing complex operations, and building strong cross-functional relationships (Essential).
