The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) plays a pivotal role in setting long-term strategic objectives, and steering SEPOA towards the achievement of annual and strategic objectives in alignment with the overarching company strategic plan. Serving as the "face" of the company, the CEO works in collaboration with the CFO and COO, ensuring the adoption and implementation of company policies as adopted by the Board/EXCO.
Key Components of the Functions and Responsibilities of the CEO Strategic Leadership and Planning- Vision Implementation: Responsible for developing and executing long- and short-term strategies to achieve the company's vision, as approved by the board.
- Performance Metrics (Finance): Drives and ensures the Company's financial health strategy and specific business objectives are achieved.
- Performance Metrics (Operations): Drives and ensures the Company's operational excellence strategy and specific operational and project standards and objectives are achieved.
- Company Positioning and Transformation: Leads change, restructuring, and adapts to industry shifts.
- Day-to-Day Oversight: Cooperates and supports COO to ensure all departments function to the standard of excellence envisioned by the board.
- Resource Allocation: Leads EXCO to ensure human, financial, and material resources are effectively allocated.
- KPI Monitoring: Monitors EXCO performance indicators and takes corrective action when necessary; meets regularly with HR Manager to review staff KPI achievements.
- Strategic Human Resource Planning: Performs high-level strategic HR planning and development.
- Budgeting: Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare annual budgets and financial reports.
- Financial Health: Reviews and implements financial long-term strategies to ensure the Company remains financially healthy, manages cash flow, and builds obsolescence funds.
- Risk Management: Collaborates with the Company Secretary to assess and mitigate legal, operational, compliance, and financial risks, ensuring strategic plans avoid creating any risk to the Company.
- Reporting: Provides regular, comprehensive reports to the Board of Directors.
- Compliance: Works with the Company Secretary to guarantee adherence to the Companies Act, King Code principles (where applicable), and other regulatory requirements.
- Health and Safety: Holds regular meetings with the designated accountable person under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to ensure continuous compliance.
- Public Face: Acts as the primary spokesperson for the company in conjunction with the Communications department, interacting with clients, media, municipalities, and regulatory bodies (SARS, CSOS, GDARD, etc.).
- Interactive Collaboration: Builds and maintains close interactive relationships with AKH/SGC/Marketing leadership to ensure aligned objectives and resolves differences, complaints, concerns, and disputes.
- Corporate Culture: Defines and fosters a positive, ethical, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Team Leadership: Builds and mentors the senior management team.
- Degree in business management, service delivery, or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a managing director or CEO in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to excel in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Minimum 8 years related experience and at least 5 years in an executive role.
- Preferably, a sound understanding of residential communities.
- Understanding of company policies, processes, and procedures in a corporate environment.
- Must at all times have a clear criminal and ITC record.
