Company Summary

LHCCGroup provides several care homes, including 24hr supported living schemes, 9 5 shared supported living units, and fully independent 1 or 2 bedroom flats with outreach services. Services include accommodation, intensive care and support for people with mental health needs, including those with complex needs such as substance misuse or ties to the criminal justice system, and support for individuals discharged under section 117 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Purpose

To support senior staff and the manager in all aspects of home management, creating a supportive, secure and homely environment that enables service users to achieve maximum independence, freedom and choice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health regulations and CQC guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of care.
  • Understand and apply the home's policies and procedures.
  • Provide personal care to clients, including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and assistance with bedpan, urinal, toilet or commode.
  • Support clients with physical and mental activity (walks, reading, writing, hobbies).
  • Provide end of life care.
  • Assist in serving meals and other domestic duties where qualified.
  • Stand on standby for emergency bell, greet visitors and answer telephone.
  • Attend staff meetings and undertake required training and refresher courses.
  • Assist in dispensing medication and clinical care under the direction of a registered nurse.
  • Co operate with implementation of Equality & Diversity policy.
  • Keep client rooms/living spaces and premises clean and tidy.
  • Assist service users in keeping their rooms or flats clean and tidy.
  • Provide after care support for people discharged under section 117 of the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Complete accurate care notes, risk assessments and other written reports.
  • Carry out any additional duties as delegated by senior staff or manager.
  • Work as part of a multi disciplinary team and with volunteers.
  • Assist in training, supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Liaise with community organisations to maintain service users' links with the community.
Knowledge and Expertise
  • Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 / 3 Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of CQC outcomes and their application.
  • Knowledge of GSCC Code of Practice.
  • Understanding of health and safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in supported living, residential care or social care environments.
  • Understanding of person centred support and safeguarding procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills.
  • Experience in leading or managing teams (if applying for a supervisory role).
Other Requirements
  • Criminal record certificate.
  • Valid passport (minimum 1 year).
  • For overseas applicants: Care Certificate or NVQ (Level 2/3), UKVI IELTS B1 minimum, TB test for specific countries.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, valid MOT and road tax, and business insurance (where required).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and on call duties.
