CAD Designer Johannesburg

A specialist manufacturer in the electrical infrastructure sector is seeking a CAD Designer with strong exposure to sheet metal fabrication and enclosure design. This role supports the full design lifecycle, translating engineering and client requirements into manufacturable drawings aligned to fabrication and assembly processes.

You will develop and optimise CAD modelling strategies across Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Sheetworks, ensuring seamless integration between design, quoting, and production. A strong understanding of electrical enclosures, switchgear configurations, and fabrication constraints is essential.

You will work closely with engineers, production teams, and contractors to deliver accurate, functional designs for CNC cutting, bending, punching, and assembly. This role suits a technically grounded designer who understands how drawings translate into production and cost efficiency.

• Experience in sheet metal fabrication and electrical enclosure design
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, and/or Sheetworks
• Understanding of switchgear layouts, mounting constraints, and enclosure assembly
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, bending, nesting)
• Matric (minimum)
