The opportunity

Nile is transforming the way fresh produce is traded across Africa by connecting producers and buyers through a tech-enabled marketplace.

As a Buyer Relationship Manager, you will play a critical role in driving demand-side growth by building strong buyer relationships, increasing platform adoption, and enabling seamless trade execution. This role sits at the intersection of sales, customer success, and marketplace operations.

You'll work closely with high-value buyers, helping them unlock more value from the platform while contributing directly to Nile's growth and market expansion.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of buyers on the Nile platform. This includes driving trading activity, improving customer experience, and ensuring buyers fully leverage the platform's capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Buyer Growth & Commercial Performance
    • Own and grow turnover within a defined portfolio of buyers
    • Drive increased trading frequency, basket size, and product mix
    • Identify opportunities to expand buyer engagement and unlock new demand
    • Support execution of high-value or time-sensitive transactions
  • Customer Relationship Management
    • Build strong, trust-based relationships with key buyers
    • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts
    • Proactively engage buyers to understand needs, challenges, and opportunities
    • Resolve complex queries and exceptions quickly and effectively
  • Platform Adoption & Enablement
    • Train and onboard buyers to effectively use Nile's online platform
    • Drive adoption of digital tools and self-service functionalityEducate customers on new features, products, and trading opportunities
    • Gather feedback to improve product and customer experience
  • Operational Support & Execution
    • Ensure smooth execution of trades from order to delivery
    • Collaborate with internal teams (operations, logistics, product) to resolve issues
    • Monitor order flow, identify risks, and take proactive action
    • Maintain high service levels and customer satisfaction
  • Market Insights & Feedback
    • Share customer insights, pricing trends, and market dynamics
    • Identify gaps in supply or demand and communicate internally
    • Contribute to improving marketplace efficiency and customer experience
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Fresh produce or agricultural trading
    • Food distribution or wholesale markets
    • Freight or logistics brokerage
    • B2B sales in FMCG or commodities
  • Strong commercial mindset with a focus on revenue growth
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • High level of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong problem-solving and customer management skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
