About the Role

The Business Development Representative is an individual contributor role responsible for driving company growth through proactive new business development and lead qualification.

This position works closely with Marketing and field Sales teams to convert marketing qualified leads (MQLs) into sales qualified opportunities (SQOs) and to develop new prospects through targeted outbound prospecting efforts. The role requires a high level of initiative, organization, and resilience in a fast paced, high velocity sales environment.

This position does not have direct or indirect reports and requires less than 25% domestic and international travel.

What You Will Do
  • Generate and qualify new sales opportunities through inbound lead management and outbound prospecting activities within an assigned territory.
  • Convert marketing qualified leads into sales qualified opportunities through timely follow up and effective qualification.
  • Conduct outbound calling campaigns and execute multi channel prospecting strategies (phone, email, social) to engage potential customers.
  • Deliver compelling value propositions and conduct effective discovery calls to identify customer needs and potential opportunities.
  • Build relationships with key decision makers and assess buying readiness, timeline, and next steps.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed established activity metrics and opportunity generation quotas.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of company products, services, and competitive differentiators.
  • Effectively handle objections and align solution capabilities with prospect needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all prospect interactions within the CRM system.
  • Participate in trade shows and industry conferences as required.
  • Support additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Decision Making and Influence
  • Evaluate prospect engagement levels and qualification status.
  • Determine appropriate timing for sales handoff and provide detailed opportunity briefings to Sales teams.
  • Influence prospecting strategies and contribute to team best practices.
Preferred Qualifications (Essential)
  • Proven experience in an inside sales or lead generation role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a high velocity environment.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Self motivated professional with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic with a demonstrated ability to drive results.
  • Resilient attitude with the ability to learn from challenges and maintain a positive perspective.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or CRO industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
