Job Description

Santam places great value on its relationships with business partners, which is why we have identified the need for a dedicated support role to serve both Sanlam Tied Advisers and the Senior Business Development Manager. The Business Development Officer plays a critical enablement and governance function within STA, ensuring adviser readiness, accurate payments, effective onboarding, and the successful adoption of strategic digital tools. The role is responsible for maintaining strong working relationships across internal channels within Santam, Sanlam, and the Sanlam Tied Adviser network.

Responsibilities
  • Liaising with the Recruitment Administrator for effective handover and onboarding of new advisers.
  • End-to-end onboarding for newly appointed advisers.
  • Facilitating structured weekly check in sessions with newly appointed adviser cohorts to track onboarding progress, system readiness, and early productivity, and to flag risks or support needs to BDMs and relevant stakeholders.
  • Creating structure and guides to streamline the onboarding journey.
  • Driving self quoting capabilities with advisers.
  • Preparing structured production reports and adviser payment inputs.
  • Effectively resolving escalations and managing expectations using available resources.
  • Providing administration and business support in line with service level agreements.
  • Producing structured reports for Senior BDMs, advisers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Providing administrative support to the Senior BDM.
  • Coordinating training schedules with product providers.
  • Coordinating logistics for workshops and adviser engagement sessions.
  • Facilitating marketing related requests from advisers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' exposure to a Personal and/or Commercial Lines policy administration and underwriting environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a broker servicing or adviser support environment.
  • Good understanding of contact centre processes and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the tied agency environment.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability, with experience using spreadsheets and reports to support business decisions.

  • Good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in administrative, reporting, and payments related work.
  • Ability to work with data and reports, including interpreting basic performance and productivity information.
  • Ability to manage conflict and expectations professionally.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
