Bodyshop Maintenance Technician, Gqeberha

We are seeking a Bodyshop Maintenance Technician for a permanent role based in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics qualification
  • Trade- tested Electrician (Advantageous)
  • Minimum of 5 years' working experience in the automotive industry (preferred)
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and handling of all electrical equipment in the workshop to reduce downtime and ensure normal operation of electrical equipment
  • Complete all TPM related activities assigned by maintenance supervisor in due time
  • Attend responsible Breakdowns and repair equipment in due time
  • Ensure that the facility's electrical installations comply with the required regulations
  • Support the installation and assembly of new equipment
  • Ensure equipment is in an adequate state of repair to ensure continuous repetitive quality products at the required cycle time
  • Ensure that the required lockout procedure is adhered to before any work on machines/equipment
  • Perform daily management tasks such as work logs, fault logs, equipment history records, maintenance records, etc. and complete work tasks assigned by the maintenance department
  • Support with improvement activities when required
  • Support the backup of all machine controller software and programs
  • Perform any duties as requested and assigned by Maintenance supervisor
  • Regularly backup and manage important data, procedures and parameters of equipment (PC, Drives, Robotics, Inverter, PLC etc.)
  • Must be flexible to work additional hours at short notice due to operational requirements
  • To undertake continuous improvement activities
  • To continually promote company philosophies, policies and values. Ensure quality requirements are adhered to
  • Take an active part in identifying and maintaining plant health and safety
  • Lead hourly workers and act as a multi-skilled worker (who understands both electrical systems and programming as well as mechanical systems)
  • Resolve robotic electronic communication faults by adjusting the robotic program to prevent re-occurring robot communication faults and ensure uninterrupted production process
  • Analyze, find fault find, repair and optimize sealer, welding, laser, and bolting technology equipment failure to ensure achievement of quality requirements and efficient production process
  • Fault find, set up and program SEW drives by using the appropriate diagnostics software/tools such as Movicol's, Motion Studio to ensure uninterrupted Production run
