We are looking for a Board Prosecutor to join our team for a fixed-term contract of six months. Location: Midrand.

Key requirements
  • LLB degree
  • Admitted attorney of the High Court
  • Solid knowledge of the Sheriffs Act, regulations, code of conduct and supporting legislation applicable to the sheriffs' profession
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience as a prosecutor or in the legal field where the leading of evidence was a strong component of the job
  • Ability to prepare complex applications for suspension and removal
  • Strong evidence/litigation experience and member of relevant legal bodies
  • Valid driver's license
Key responsibilities
  • Preparation of the charge sheets where there is evidence that a sheriff has acted in contravention of the code of conduct and/or the Act
  • Act as evidence leader in disciplinary matters and internal appeal
  • Prepare applications for suspension of sheriffs, drafting criminal affidavits on behalf of the company, removal from office of sheriffs, charge letters and criminal referra
  • Oversee the timeous scheduling of disciplinary enquiries and provide guidance and support to the legal and complaints department
