Job Description
Key Responsibilities 
- Manage a portfolio of civil and commercial litigation matters from inception to finalization
- Draft and settle pleadings, notices, affidavits, contracts, and legal opinions
- Appear in the Magistrates' Court and High Court for motion and trial proceedings
- Advise clients on commercial disputes, contractual risk, and dispute resolution strategies
- Handle matters relating to:
- Commercial and contractual disputes
- Property and lease-related disputes
- Consumer and business-related litigation
- Family law litigation
- Labour-related disputes
- Engage in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution processes
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide clear, practical legal guidance
- Manage files independently and ensure efficient turnaround times
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- 2-7 years' post-admission experience in civil and commercial litigation
- Strong drafting and litigation skills
- Experience in both Magistrates' Court and High Court practice
- Solid understanding of civil procedure and court rules
- Commercially minded with strong problem-solving ability
- Excellent communication and client management skills
- Ability to manage a full caseload independently
- Experience in dispute resolution, arbitration, and commercial contracts
- Exposure to property-related matters, lease agreements, and sale agreements
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary legal practice
- Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail
- Professional, discreet, and client-focused
- Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset
