Apprentice: Mechanical Fitter

Weir is a global leader in mining technology. As an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter, you will support our Service Technicians in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment on site.

• Assist Service Technicians with routine maintenance, repairs, and installation of mechanical equipment.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, assembling, and dismantling components under supervision.
• Conduct equipment inspections and report defects or abnormalities promptly.
• Engage in learning and applying mechanical fitting skills aligned with training requirements and competency standards.
• Complete required training modules, maintain logbooks, and pass assessments within set timeframes.
• Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors and support a world class safety culture.

• Grade12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science or N3 in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop mechanical fitting skills.
• Commitment to safety and teamwork in a hands on technical environment.

• Background in a technical environment.
• Valid Code10 / C1 Driver's License.
• Previous exposure to mechanical maintenance or fitting tasks.
