ROLE SUMMARY The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary (ENA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that each patient is treated with dignity and respect at all times. The ENA ensures that the patient is in a safe environment, and that their individual needs are addressed, thereby delivering high-quality mental health and physical health care to patients within the Akeso Clinic. The ENA has knowledge, skills, attitude, and role models a high-standard practice at all times. Position description is a broad indication of the work required from individual personnel holding a particular position. The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes caring for the patient, his possessions, documentation and the control and economical use of stock and equipment in the ward.Job Summary: The Akeso Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary provides essential nursing support to patients within Netcare's Akeso mental health facilities, working under the supervision of a registered nurse to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. Job Responsibilities: Assist registered nurses with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Provide basic patient care, including personal hygiene, mobility assistance, and feeding. Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the registered nurse. Document patient observations and care provided accurately and timely. Assist with the implementation of individual patient care plans. Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including tidying beds and rooms. Support patients in daily activities and therapeutic interventions as directed. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Adhere to all Netcare policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Participate in ward meetings and handover reports. Job Qualifications: Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Prior experience in a mental health setting is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a team. Strong empathy and compassion for patients. Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Basic computer literacy.
