Agile Business Analyst: Compliance

Mukuru

Job Description

Role Overview

We're looking for a sharp, analytical, and curious Business Analyst to join our Compliance Screening team - a space where technology meets regulation to protect financial ecosystems.

In this role, you won't just gather requirements - you'll decode complex compliance rules and translate them into scalable, intelligent solutions. From sanctions screening to PEP checks and adverse media monitoring, your work will directly impact how we detect risk and enable safe financial transactions across multiple markets.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with data, and bridging the gap between business and technology - this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyse, and document business and compliance requirements from internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
  • Define and refine screening processes, including sanctions, PEP, and adverse media checks
  • Support integrations with external verification systems (e.g. government/state entities)
  • Establish and maintain business rules for spending limits and compliance controls
  • Collaborate closely with developers and testers to ensure solutions are accurate, scalable, and compliant
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
  • Conduct impact analysis for regulatory changes and evolving compliance requirements
  • Create and maintain process flows, data mappings, and system documentation
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business and regulatory expectations
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Systems, Business, or a related field
  • Experience as a Business Analyst (fintech or compliance environments preferred)
  • Exposure to AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, or sanctions screening processes is highly advantageous
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
  • Familiarity with API integrations and third party systems
Key Competencies
  • Strong analytical thinking with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex regulatory concepts
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in tools like Jira, Confluence, Visio, or Lucidchart
  • Ability to work across both technical and non technical teams
  • Curiosity and adaptability in a fast evolving compliance landscape
  • Bonus: Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance analysis, documentation, and productivity

All staff appointments will be made with due consideration of the company's diversity and inclusion plans.
