The Accountant plays a central role in ensuring financial clarity, compliance, and control. Beyond managing the day-to-day accounting functions, the Accountant will act as a trusted partner to leadership-providing the insights and integrity needed to support business growth and sound decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process supplier invoices and customer payments accurately and on time.
- Reconcile accounts and follow up on outstanding balances to maintain healthy cash flow.
- General Ledger and Cash Book: Maintain daily general ledger and cash book entries.
- Ensure all financial transactions are correctly recorded and compliant with internal policies.
- Fixed Asset Register: Track asset acquisitions, movements, and disposals.
- Maintain depreciation schedules and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Tax & SARS Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns and related documentation.
- Maintain full compliance with SARS and local tax legislation.
- Bachelor of Commerce () degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a hands-on accounting role.
- Strong command of full accounting cycle: AP/AR, bank reconciliations, GL, fixed assets, and tax.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Syspro is a significant advantage).
- Solid understanding of VAT, SARS compliance, and local financial regulations.
- SAIPA or SAICA registration (completed or in progress) is highly desirable.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a tight-knit, high-performance team.
