The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive accounting and taxation support by independently managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with statutory requirements. The incumbent will support the Tax Compliance Manager in tax-related matters and collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure efficient financial management and decision-making across the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE
  • Maintain the general ledger, process journal entries, and perform monthly reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review management accounts, financial schedules, and supporting reports.
  • Assist the Tax Compliance Manager in preparing, reviewing, and submitting VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax returns in line with legislative requirements.
  • Conduct tax reconciliations, ensure accurate records, and highlight areas of risk or discrepancy.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and financial schedules.
  • Maintain proper filing of financial and tax records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Support statutory audit processes by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards, company policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Assist with internal controls and process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide ad hoc financial and tax analysis to support business decisions and management reporting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional certification towards (SAIPA, CIBA, SAICA, CIMA, or equivalent) advantageous or in progress.
  • 1-5 years' relevant accounting and taxation experience with exposure to taxation.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and strong MS Excel skills.
