A multinational organisation operating across Africa is currently implementing a new ERP system and requires an experienced Accountant to join their finance team as an independent contractor until 15 December 2026. The role is preferably office-based, with hybrid working options available for candidates who cannot commit to full time in office work. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00, with some flexibility.
The Accountant will manage a portion of the finance function from source entries through to Trial Balance, with a strong focus on supplier and balance sheet reconciliations between financial, operational, and external systems during the ERP implementation and stabilisation phase.
Working closely with the Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will help maintain strong financial controls, resolve system related exceptions, and support accurate data migration and reporting.
This is a hands on, detail oriented role suited to someone comfortable working with complex financial data, able to operate independently, and collaborate effectively within a project focused finance team.
Responsibilities- Manage accounting from source entries to Trial Balance for multiple African entities
- Perform and review supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconcile between operational systems and the General Ledger
- Ensure accurate financial records and correct GL postings
- Support month end, interim, and year end close processes
- Assist during external audits and help address audit findings
- Support cash monitoring and cash requirement planning
- Assist with organisational budgeting and expenditure monitoring
- Support ERP implementation by validating data, testing outputs, and resolving system related exceptions
- Review and analyse current and new systems and report on issues
- Contribute to documenting and improving finance policies and processes
- Action ad hoc requests from the Financial Accountant
- BCom Accounting degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role if qualified, or 8-10 years' experience if not formally qualified
- Experience in multi entity or multinational environments is advantageous
- Solid understanding of financial, tax, and commercial legislation
- Experience working with accounting and payroll systems (ERP implementation exposure advantageous)
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Xero would be beneficial)
- Strong reconciliation and balance sheet experience
- High attention to detail and accuracy
