SUMMARY
Ironworkers place and install iron or steel beams, girders, joists, columns, metal decking, bridging, and other steel related materials to form buildings, bridges, and other structures. They also repair and renovate older buildings and structures.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Read specifications and blue prints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, lasers equipment, transits, and/or levels. Proficient at reading a tape measure and angle finders with occasional need for calipers Possess a good working knowledge of heat related stresses and warping properties, pertaining to the assembly and weld out of various shapes and metal types, as required to achieve acceptable craftsmanship of fabricated items Must understand bend angles and degrees; with proper allowances for metal thicknesses Be competent at calculating metal stretch-outs and circumferences Be competent at deburring, grinding, finishing and polishing, of raw edges, welds and joints of fabricated items Develop good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings Visualize objects in three dimensions from flat layout drawings Understand cuts, copes, miters, takeoffs and allowances Working knowledge of stair runs and risers in relation to design and structural platforms All employees must provide and maintain the required tool inventory for this position Understanding OSHA regulations, codes, and ergonomics as it pertains to stairs and platform applications Qualified safe operation in overhead cranes, rigging, and lifting practices Must be able to work in a team environment Ability to communicate clearly with other employees Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required A current valid driver's license is requiredBENEFITSMCC offers a comprehensive benefits package to include some of the following: Medical, Dental, Vision Basic and Optional Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Disability 401k Retirement Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Wellness Programs Education Assistance
