Proficiency in the operation of bending, forming, rolling, shearing, punching, stamping, spinning and water jet cutting. They shall have the ability to read and work from drawings and specifications. Required Education (Machinist): A high school diploma or GED. A minimum of ten years of experience as a machinist. possess the verifiable ability to program and develop tool paths on machining projects using Geometric and Miscellaneous (G&M) code for wire electrical discharge machining (EDM); and three, four and five-axis machine centers, mills and lathes. Have experience operating CNC based multi-axis machine centers and lathes, as well as, conventional mills and lathes. Desired Education: Expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices. Experience performing precision hand grinding to tolerances of a plus or minus 0.010 inches. Experience with metal working for a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including but not limited to aluminum alloys, mild steels, high yield steels, stainless steels, copper, and bronze alloys. OR Skilled in the interpretation of complex engineered drawings, sketches and verbal communications. Experience determining proper tool types, feed rates and tool speeds for a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, reinforced and non-reinforced plastics, and rubber. Experience working with a variety of materials such as stainless steel (300, 400 and 17-4 PH series, aluminum (5000, 6000, and 7000 series), medium and mild steel, HY-80,100, HSLA-80 and 100 steel, pipe, structural steel, nickel aluminum bronze alloy, and titanium; and non-metallic and composite materials such as nylon, Delrin, ABS, PVC, and glass epoxy/polyester composites. Knowledge of the principles and general details of aircraft structural construction and repair; sheet metal layout; shop drawing techniques; shop mathematics; principles of cold-forming aluminum alloys and heat-forming plastic; corrosion identification and removal; cleaning metals; applying protective coatings; and mixing, storage, and use of materials is mandatory. Knowledge of technical orders and regulations and safety codes and practices is mandatory. Knowledge of the concepts of major command maintenance directives and the use and operator maintenance of aircraft structural maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery is mandatory. Knowledge of maintenance management; concepts and application of applicable maintenance directives; and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous wastes and materials is mandatory. Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work. b. Education. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics, algebra, metalworking, mechanical drawing, chemistry, and physics is desirable. c. Experience. Qualification as Sheetmetal Worker is mandatory. A minimum of five years of experience performing functions, such as fabricating, repairing, assembling, or installing aircraft metals, plastics, fiberglass, composites, or honeycomb parts; corrosion identification and removal; preparing and cleaning metals; or applying coatings and markings, is mandatory. Completion of an advanced structural maintenance course is mandatory. Special Certifications and Qualifications required for position A have a minimum of four (4) years documented on-aircraft maintenance experience on the F-15 and/or F-16 aircraft. This on-aircraft experience must have been within the past 10 years; if the on-aircraft experience is beyond 10 years, there must be similar AF fighter aircraft experience within 10 years.
