NGDS – ABL is seeking a highly motivated thermal/structural analyst to work in the exciting and challenging world of tactical propulsion. Position duties center on the use of finite element analysis as applied to mechanics and heat transfer in evaluating rocket motors and other defense and aerospace systems. Experience with solid rocket motors, composite structures, and gas or structural dynamics is highly desirable.
This position will be located at on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote work is available for this position.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Analysis model formulation and FEA or CFD solution using Abaqus or Fluent
• Providing technical assessments of results and giving design guidance with specialized knowledge of mechanics of materials for orthotropic, hyperelastic, and visocelastic materials
• Reporting of analysis results in written and oral formats
• Peer reviewing of other analysts work products, including efforts at other corporate business locations
• Interfacing with internal/external customers and with support personnel in design and testing
• Travel is typically required less than once a year

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00Salary Range 2: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASAs Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
The selected candidate will perform day-to-day operations in support of the Ground Support Technical Operations (GSTO) group and Launch Vehicle Processing Testing and Validation of flight and ground systems for NASA’s Artemis Program.
Responsibilities

Position Details
This position plans and accomplishes highly complex and challenging projects/programs and other work activities under the minimal direction of a manager, or more experienced engineer. The Aerospace Engineer serves as a Program Manager with responsibility for planning, coordinating, reviewing, and evaluating activities of matrix teams assembled for the timely completion of @type certification projects of aircraft, engines or propellers using advanced materials, systems and design concepts.
Duties

Coordinates with other FAA team members to ensure that all safety concerns and possible items affecting more than one area are addressed and resolved.
Preparing technical documents, which compels others to take action, instruct others in carrying out activities, or explain the purpose, goals, and objectives of a policy/regulations. He/she drafts, reviews, and edits reports or contractual documents for final approval prior to external distribution. Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval on policies. Coordinates significant technical matters with representatives of external organizations.
Broad policies and objectives provide general guidance for addressing issues, but allow considerable discretion to develop new and innovative approaches. Draws on engineering experience to solve unusual problems and may create new solutions and policy interpretations. Provides policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally.
Work is reviewed rarely, typically through status reports and at project completion, to ensure technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.
