The Role:

The Workshop Foreman position seeks an ideal candidate with proficiency in the manufacturing or rebuild process for continuous miners, along with experience in other underground mining equipment. Specializing in the repair and maintenance of continuous miners used in underground mining operations is crucial. This role carries the primary responsibility of overseeing the operational functionality of the workshop. Key objectives include ensuring the designated production area meets predefined goals related to safety, quality outcomes, production volume, staffing levels, and on-time delivery.

Key Performance Areas:
  • Responsible for the employees, machines, and methods.
  • Responsible for reaching tactical targets.
  • Ensure staff competence and that work is done according to the agreed procedures and routines.
  • Lead and distributes work in the production area.
  • Responsible for personnel in areas such as rehabilitation and workforce planning, ensures compliance with all employment, health, and safety laws.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the assembly team. Monitor and analyse team performance against set KPIs.
  • Responsible for all machinery and equipment in the production area.
  • Responsible for the development of a yearly budget, ongoing expense tracking and cost saving initiatives.
  • Actively work with culture change - attitudes, commitments and behaviours of individuals and groups.
  • Responsible for specifying requirements on support functions as well as initiating and following up on improvement projects.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality standards and ensure that products meet customer specifications and expectations.
  • Initiate improvement projects, including the implementation and maintenance of 5S principles for workplace organization.
  • Prepare regular reports for management on productivity, quality, and other relevant metrics.
Profile Required:
  • Technical qualification - Trade certificate or tertiary Diploma.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a Foreman or supervisory role within a machine assembly or Workshop environment.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining quality control measures in assembly operations.
  • Product knowledge on flameproof equipment.
  • Proven technical troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis.
