Workplace Experience Student: Production page is loaded Workplace Experience Student: Productionremote type: Onsitelocations: Pietermaritzburgtime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR001417It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!Provide hands-on exposure to Milling operations, developing technical milling knowledge, process understanding, and operational problem-solving skills under the guidance of experienced millers and production leadersSupport the milling team in daily milling operations under supervision to ensure stable and efficient mill performance. Assist in monitoring and controlling the milling process, including wheat cleaning, conditioning, grinding, sifting, and flour blending. Participate in shift operations and handovers to understand milling schedules, production targets, and operational constraints. Assist in monitoring key milling parameters such as throughput, extraction rates, yield, stock flow, power consumption, and mill balance. Collect, capture, and analyse milling performance data to identify losses, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities. Support mill adjustments and changeovers under guidance, including roll gap settings, sieve changes, and stock distribution. Assist in identifying and responding to milling deviations such as blockages, stock imbalances, abnormal vibrations, or excessive losses. Participate in preventive operational checks to support equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on milling efficiency, yield optimisation, waste reduction, and cost control. Work closely with maintenance and intake teams to improve milling stability and overall plant performance.
