We are looking for an experienced Welder to be based in Boksburg, responsible for fabricating, welding, and repairing metal components and structures in a workshop or production environment. The role requires producing quality welds according to drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting efficient production output through accurate workmanship and attention to detail.
Responsibilities- Perform welding duties using applicable processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick (Arc), and/or Flux-Cored (depending on operational requirements).
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, welding symbols, and job instructions.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, including welding machines, gas equipment, and hand tools.
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, beveling, fitting, and aligning components prior to welding.
- Execute fabrication tasks such as measuring, marking off, tacking, and assembling parts and structures.
- Ensure welds meet required quality standards, including correct penetration, profile, and finish.
- Conduct basic inspection of welds and rectify defects where required (rework/repair).
- Report equipment faults, material issues, or quality deviations to the supervisor promptly.
- Support continuous improvement by working efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Recognised welding qualification or certification obtained from an accredited training provider.
- Coded Welder qualification to AWS D1.1 (essential).
- A minimum of 3-5 years' welding experience within a workshop, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
- Proven experience in welding structural steel and/or heavy engineering components.
- Demonstrated ability to perform work in compliance with stringent quality, safety, and workmanship standards.
