This vacancy is for Permanent, Fixed Term & Casual appointments at various hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency across all remote clinic locations in the Kimberley.

Lombadina is located on beautiful Thomas Bay, 170km North of Broome on the Dampier Peninsula. Relax on white sandy beaches, characterised by pristine turquoise waters. Take in nature's beauty and experience the colours of the Kimberley, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and whale watching.

About the Kimberley Population Health Unit

The Kimberley Population Health Unit mission is to optimise the health of Kimberley communities by working in partnership and embedding the principles of public and primary healthcare in our work. This is a multifaceted role in the Primary Care sector that enables them to be proactive in the treatment and prevention of chronic disease and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Recruitment Pool
  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2026.
Requirements
  • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of primary health care and community development.
  • Broad nursing experience with recent emergency care nursing skills including the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal health.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and cross cultural, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated well developed problem solving.
  • Pharmacology competency or working towards same.
  • Current C Class manual drivers licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from base.
Position Profile

To work as a member of a multidisciplinary team within a primary health care framework in partnership with the community, community council and other organisations. To provide culturally responsive, planned, coordinated and comprehensive primary health and emergency care to the individuals and families of the respective community.

  • WACHS supports flexible working practices and consideration will be given to flexible work/roster options, where operationally appropriate.

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at 76 select locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. All Remote clinic appointments are eligible for the maximum amount $17000.
