Introduction

We are looking for a Vetting Officer to join our dynamic division!As a Vetting Officer, you will be responsible for verifying the suitability of potential tenants using screening and vetting techniques in line with our policies and procedures. Your role is essential in ensuring that our tenants meet the required standards for tenancy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Examining tenant applications to ensure all required information is provided and is accurate.
  • Performing background checks, including credit checks and employment verification.
  • Verifying information provided by applicants with previous landlords, employers, or other relevant parties.
  • Analysing financial information such as income, expenditure and debt, to determine if applicants can afford the rent.
  • Ensuring all vetting processes adhere to relevant legislation, such as the Rental Housing Act, FICA and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
  • Communicating with stakeholders throughout the vetting process.
  • Preparing reports on vetting results and findings.
  • Undertake any other duties or tasks as set out by management from time to time.
Qualifications

Minimum

  • Matric (Grade 12).
Desired Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in risk, legal, finance or business management.
Skills/Core Competencies
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate information and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Rental Housing Act, FICA Act and POPIA.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and systems - Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Excellent time management abilitilies.
  • Self- reliance, ownership and integrity.
  • Problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Team player.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in similar or related role.
