Two 5-year fixed term lecturer positions in experimental particle physics

Two 5 year fixed term Lecturer positions with experience in Experimental Particle Physics for the ATLAS experiment at CERN are available immediately. Successful candidates will be required to teach, supervise postgraduate students and participate in the administration of the School, Faculty and University. Candidates are expected to take leading roles in the Tile Calorimeter, data analysis and technology transfer projects of the Institute of Collider Particle Physics (ICPP) hosted by the School. The Institute has commitments towards the data analysis, maintenance, operations and upgrade of the experiment and is an active member of the SA CERN programme. The ICPP also contributes to the Technology Innovation Platform of the National Research Foundation.

The final selection will be made on the basis of scholarship and potential to contribute to the work and reputation of the School.

A PhD degree with a good publication record, evidence of independent research and within a large experimental collaboration. Postdoctoral research experience in experimental particle physics will be an added advantage. Proven track record in both instrumentation and data analysis is mandatory. Teaching experience and involvement in the supervision of postgraduate students are an advantage.
