Job Purpose

CPUT is recruiting a TVET Colleges Partnership Coordinator for the South African Renewable Energy Centre (SARETEC)'s Skills for Green and Just Energy Transition "Skills4JET" Project to coordinate, manage and deliver the TVET project output. The project includes several participating TVET Colleges, each treated as a sub-project. The project is managed between CPUT through SARETEC and participating Colleges and reports to different project governance structures, the funder and DHET. The focus is on enhancing existing training infrastructure to enable rollout of specialised training opportunities within the renewable energy sector in collaboration between CPUT / SARETEC and TVET Colleges. The Partnership Coordinator will coordinate assigned project-related activities, including development and management of procurement needs of all participating TVET Colleges, resource management, coordination of project deliverables (site visits / progress inspections), stakeholder engagement, reporting (meetings and record keeping, presentations) at TVET Project Management Steering Committee, internal SARETEC meetings and the main Skills4JET Project Steering Committee, and support TVET Project Managers to report as required.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary Engineering qualification at minimum NQF level 8 with Project Management experience.
  • Possessing the qualifications and experience as a trainer (electrical or mechanical) in the renewable energy space will be an advantage.
  • At least 6 (six) years with a minimum of 4 (four) years in project administration and management within the renewable energy sector or education sector or related environment.
  • Of the six years of experience, at least (four) years of experience in stakeholders' engagement.
  • Have strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Coordinate, oversee and manage key TVET Colleges project plan as per the main Project implementation Plan and relevant legislative frameworks.
  • Coordinate individual TVET projects related to the Skills4JET Project implementation Plan in line with the approved Feasibility Study recommendations, Collaborative / Partnership Agreements, Grant Funding Agreement and Separate Agreement as embedded into the organisational systems and technical projects (design, conceptualisation, execution and monitoring and evaluation).
  • Assist the Project Manager and TVET Project Managers or Coordinators to define and document the scope of work for their respective colleges.
  • Prepare, manage and track project progress and budget and report accordingly.
  • Coordinate and arrange all activities required for the execution of the TVET Colleges projects while coordinating ensuring central communication among the TVET Colleges participants.
  • Communicating project requirements to stakeholders
  • Execute project plans
  • Prepare and distribute project reports or information and update briefs to the TVET Colleges.
  • Develop resourcing plans and project budgets together with the TVET Project Managers or Coordinators, SARETEC Project and Finance Team.
  • Drive project deadlines and deliverables according to specified timelines.
  • Ensure that any risks to key milestones are captured and flagged accordingly.
  • Create and edit project presentations and documentation as required for all related engagement platforms / project governance structures.
  • Ensure document version control and records management in terms of IS0 9001 standards and SARETEC internal procedures.
  • Perform other tasks, as requested by line-manager, in line with the role.
  • Strong MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal communication, listening skills and able to communicate appropriately with all levels of personnel.
  • Communication (verbal and writing) and Interpersonal skills.
  • Very good written communication, including clear, concise e-mail communication, adept at writing reports and policies.
  • Paying attention to details
  • Able to manage stress and high-pressure situations.
  • Able to handle multiple projects, prioritise work and work effectively under minimal supervision
  • Good team player and able to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Committed to continuous training and learning.
