Our client is seeking a Training Specialist to join their team, responsible for onboarding new recruits and supporting ongoing staff development. The role focuses on continuous, hands-on training, mentorship and performance improvement, enhancing product knowledge, consulting efficiency and service excellence across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with managers and team leaders to identify training gaps and areas of improvement.
  • Conduct on-the-floor observations and assess performance-related trends.
  • Review KPA assessments and use findings to develop training plans.
  • Keep abreast of training trends, developments and best practices.
  • Develop individual or small group training sessions based on skill level and needs.
  • Deliver practical coaching, on-the-job training and refresher courses.
  • Create easy-to-understand training manuals, incorporating our SOPs.
  • Mentor across all levels through hands-on guidance.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Track development and provide feedback on progress to managers and team leaders.
  • Keep up to date with operational and system changes, ensuring they are effectively integrated into training.
  • Drive company values and culture through all training and development, encouraging positive staff morale.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic attitude - where ideas, views, knowledge and values are shared.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years' experience in a Training/Mentoring role
  • Prior experience in an Inbound Tour Operator an advantage
  • Strong working knowledge of Southern Africa as a travel destination an advantage

  • In-depth understanding of systems (i.e. Tourplan, Oasis, supplier booking systems and third-party supplier systems)
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences

  • Skilled at explaining processes clearly and breaking down complex tasks
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify performance gaps and training needs
