High end well-known Lodge in the Kalahari area is seeking an experienced and confident Trails Guide to lead immersive walking safaris and contribute to a high-quality guest experience. This role is ideal for a passionate guide with strong bush knowledge, excellent situational awareness, and a deep respect for wildlife and conservation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead safe, informative, and engaging walking safaris for guests in a Big 5 environment
- Interpret flora, fauna, tracks, signs, and ecological systems with confidence and clarity
- Ensure guest safety at all times, adhering to best-practice operating procedures
- Carry and responsibly manage a licensed rifle during walking activities
- Assist with vehicle-based game drives when required
- Contribute to conservation efforts, environmental monitoring, and anti-poaching awareness
- Maintain professional guest interaction standards and lodge representation
- Support general guiding and lodge operations as needed
- Certified Trails Guide qualification recognized within South Africa
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Valid First Aid certification
- Valid firearm competency and rifle proficiency for trails guiding
- Proven experience conducting walking safaris in a Big 5 reserve
- Excellent knowledge of wildlife behaviour, ecology, and bush safety
- Strong communication skills and a calm, confident presence
- High levels of situational awareness and sound judgment
- Passionate about conservation and environmental education
- Professional, well-presented, and guest-focused
- Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances in the bush
- Team-oriented with a positive and adaptable attitude
