Essence of the job:

The Testwork & R&D Engineer leads bench- and pilot scale UFR test campaigns, managing planning, equipment preparation, site deployment, commissioning, operation, and compliance with mine safety standards. The role includes reconciling mass and gold balances, analyzing and presenting results to mine management, and compiling detailed technical and financial reports. During non deployment periods, the engineer focuses on R&D, including experimental design, process optimisation, performance improvement, and documentation to support technology advancement and intellectual property development.

Qualification:
  • BSc or BEng in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Client facing role.
  • Must be presentable with solid communication skills.
  • Travel to clients in Africa on a regular basis to conduct testwork (Tanzania, DRC, Liberia, Mali).
  • When in country, the person will be responsible for research and development work.
  • Previous gold mining site testwork experience required.
  • 1-3 years gold processing experience.
  • Strong understanding of CIP/CIL systems and carbon handling.
  • Experience conducting metallurgical testwork.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills.
  • Ability to travel and operate internationally in demanding environments.
  • Clients are facing, thus good communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • This is not a routine plant role. It requires structured thinking, technical confidence, and accountability.
