Job Description

Eosol Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Tender Technician (Substation and Line) to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. This role is crucial for the successful preparation and submission of bids, involving the procurement of quotations from suppliers, meticulous evaluation of these quotations, and the development of conceptual designs for substation and line projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that Eosol Group's tender submissions are competitive, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Tender Preparation: Lead the preparation and compilation of comprehensive tender documents, ensuring all technical and commercial requirements are met.
  • Supplier Quotation Management: Proactively solicit, receive, and organize quotations from various suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services related to substation and line projects.
  • Commercial and Technical Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of received quotations, comparing prices, lead times, technical specifications, and compliance with tender requirements. Identify discrepancies and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Conceptual Design: Develop preliminary conceptual designs and layouts for substations and power lines, working closely with engineering teams to ensure feasibility and adherence to industry standards.
  • Cost Estimation: Assist in the development of accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQs) based on tender specifications and market prices.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with tender proposals and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain organized and accessible records of all tender-related documentation, including correspondence, quotations, evaluations, and design concepts.
  • Collaboration: Liaise effectively with internal departments (engineering, procurement, project management) and external stakeholders (suppliers, clients) throughout the tender process.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, new technologies, and competitor activities to enhance the competitiveness of Eosol Group's bids.
  • Compliance: Ensure all tender submissions comply with Eosol Group's policies, procedures, and relevant industry regulations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in a similar role, specifically within the tendering or bidding process for substation and/or overhead line projects.
  • Proven experience in preparing and presenting tenders, including requesting and evaluating supplier quotations.
  • Familiarity with conceptual design development for electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of substation and overhead line project components, construction methods, and relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and any relevant tendering or CAD software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with specific tendering software or platforms.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Familiarity with South African electrical utility standards and regulations.
  • Additional technical certifications or qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field.
