Job Description

We currently have a vacancy for the position of a Technician based at our Cape Town Workshop branch.

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration & Electrical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing commercial refrigeration systems and electrical components of catering equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Repair, replace, and maintain refrigeration systems and catering equipment.
  • Diagnose faults, perform troubleshooting, and test equipment for correct operation.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery and electrical components.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Examine parts for defects and ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of service work, parts used, and recommendations.
  • Provide reports on diagnoses, repairs, and observations.
  • Work standby and overtime as required.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS procedures and safe handling of tools and equipment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • Trade Test: Refrigeration or Electrical.
  • 3-5 years' experience in refrigeration and electrical servicing of commercial/industrial equipment (eg. microwaves/chip fryers/ catering equipment etc).
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Technical proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Safety conscious and compliant with regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments.
  • Lift and handle equipment/tools safely.
  • Work at heights or in confined spaces as required.
