Discover the many reasons the world's most talented people are choosing to work at DuPont.DDP Specialty Products South Africa Proprietary Ltd, a subsidiary of the DuPont group, is recruiting for its Water Solutions activity at its Johannesburg site.DuPont Water Solutions (Johannesburg) is seeking a Technical Support Laboratory Technician f/m to evaluate and test ion exchange resins, support application development, and assist production and technical service teams. The role involves performing analytical testing, developing methods, preparing samples, maintaining lab equipment, and generating clear technical reports.The candidate will collaborate closely with technical managers, commercial teams, and engineers across multiple technologies, while ensuring smooth lab operations and full EHS compliance. Occasional travel (up to 20%) for customer visits may be required.Reporting to the Technical Support Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will: Evaluate ion exchange resins physicochemical properties and performance in new applications. Lead and support application development projects with technical managers from various segments. Assist production sites with manufacturing and modifying resins, including application testing. Develop analytical methods on service instruments. Prepare commercial samples as required. Draft analysis reports in English and communicate findings to commercial and technical teams. Present study results at team meetings in the region. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and analytical instruments. Support technical service engineers across DuPont Water Solutions technologies. Ensure smooth laboratory operations: + Handle general administrative work + Manage inventory and disposal of reagents, samples, etc. + Conduct preventive maintenance of equipment and instruments + Update/create procedures and analytical methods + Handle metrology + Ensure general cleanliness of the laboratory Use Microsoft tools, DuPont internal systems, and SAP. Train and supervise internship or co-op students. Follow site Environment, Health, and Safety rules. Possibility of travel and customer visits up to 20% of the time. Desired Qualifications: Candidates must accurately report scientific information in writing and speech. A strong general knowledge of chemistry is essential. Familiarity with standard lab equipment like pH meters, conductivity meters, and TOC devices is required. Proficiency in IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected. Skills in verbal communication and report writing. Experience working with clients and commercial teams. Strong expertise in analytical chemistry is highly desirable. Knowledgeable about ion exchange resin applications in industrial processes and familiar with water treatment technologies and processes. Required Personal Skills: Demonstrated ability to comprehend, analyze, and resolve technical challenges Strong intellectual curiosity Proven effectiveness in collaborative team environments Experience with project development and management Proficient in multiple forms of communication, including leading meetings, composing emails, and delivering information both in writing and verbally Self-directed, highly motivated, with excellent organizational skills and initiative Education: BSc/BTech in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
