Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of Design to join our thriving department from September 2026.

The Art and Design Faculty is a team of ten teachers and two technicians who enjoy working collaboratively to deliver an outstanding education across Fine Art, Photography, Three-Dimensional Design and Textile Design. Each subject has its own identity and Head of Department, and colleagues come together delivering lessons across multiple specialisms with our technician team supporting each area.

Role and Responsibilities

The Teacher of Design will be expected to teach predominantly in Three-Dimensional Design across Years 7 to 13. Teaching at least one other specialism in the Faculty is highly desirable.

Three-Dimensional Design is currently taught alongside Textile Design as part of a carousel in Years 7 to 9 with Fine Art and Photography. We teach the AQA Art and Design Three-Dimensional Design course at GCSE and A Level. We welcome teachers of Design to Forest who are enthusiastic in delivering Three-Dimensional Design with either or both a Design and Technology and an Art and Design approach.

We have a series of well-equipped specialist facilities to support outstanding teaching and learning. Three-Dimensional Design is a very popular GCSE option and pupils who take it to A Level are often in pursuit of a degree in a related field in Design, Architecture or Engineering. Teaching Three-Dimensional Design at Forest presents an opportunity for the postholder to provide expert guidance to our pupils on routes to post-18 study.
