Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented future Tax Practitioner who has completed a relevant qualification and wishes to enter into a formal traineeship under a recognised controlling body/professional body (SAIT or SAIPA).

The successful candidate will gain practical, hands on experience in tax compliance and administration across a diverse client base, including individuals, trusts, PBOs and companies and close corporations.

  • In office role based in Grahamstown (Makhanda) or Johannesburg (Rivonia)
  • R - R per month, dependent on prior experience and qualifications
  • Full time Traineeship
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Tax Compliance
  • Preparation and submission of annual income tax returns for:
    • Individuals
    • Trusts
    • Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs)
    • Companies/Close Corporations
  • Preparation and submission of provisional tax returns
  • Preparation and filing of other returns, including third party returns and dividends tax
  • Review assessment and assist in preparation of disputes
  • Maintain client tax compliance status, and assist in obtaining Tax Clearance Pin (AIT's)
Administration
  • Maintaining accurate client records and tax schedules
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines
  • Assisting with tax reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • General tax related administrative support to senior practitioners
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Completed relevant qualification in accounting, taxation or a related field.
  • Intention to complete a traineeship with one of the following recognised controlling bodies:
    • SAIT
    • SAIPA
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
  • Experience with Xero accounting and GreatSoft advantageous
  • Familiarity with SARS eFiling
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prior experience in a tax, accounting or audit environment advantageous
  • Understanding of South African tax and administration legislation
