Primary Purpose (Role):
The Tax Specialist will support the DRA Corporate Finance department-specifically the GM Corporate Finance, Head of Tax EMEA, and Head of Tax APAC/Americas-in identifying and, where applicable, implementing tax and entity structuring opportunities across the DRA Group. These activities will be pursued where commercially rational and in alignment with the Group's Tax Management Framework to optimise overall tax efficiency.
The role requires a thorough understanding of tax regimes across multiple jurisdictions and close collaboration with regional finance and group function teams to execute necessary structuring initiatives. A strong grasp of direct, indirect, cross-border, and transfer pricing tax implications is essential.
Additional duties include providing ad hoc support and advice, as well as undertaking projects alongside senior tax leadership. This encompasses assisting with internal capital management activities, in partnership with treasury and accounting teams, to ensure legal entity solvency and the tax efficient distribution of cash within the Group to the ultimate parent company.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Tax Focus- Identify tax saving opportunities within the DRA Group for restructuring purposes.
- Detect tax leakage on cash flows between subsidiaries and parent companies, as well as in country tax risks, and recommend restructuring to mitigate these issues-particularly where changes in governing laws impact trade.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax optimisation projects and strategies to ensure effective planning.
- Coordinate expert tax advice relating to international tax matters pertinent to the role.
- Collaborate with regional finance teams and relevant Group functions to promptly implement strategic tax planning initiatives that optimise income tax expense and tax payable positions.
- Support the Head of Tax APAC/Americas and Head of Tax EMEA in maximising deferred tax asset recognition.
- Ensure the consistent application of efficient and effective tax internal controls across regions, adhering to the Global Tax Standard.
- Assist with Transfer Pricing (TP) reporting across all regions.
- Identify Transfer Pricing risks and incorporate recommendations on necessary changes, such as mark ups on intergroup or strategic transactions.
- Manage processes to qualify for reduced withholding tax rates under relevant Tax Treaties and facilitate refunds for overpaid withholding tax.
- Oversee documentation standards related to intergroup transactions for Transfer Pricing compliance.
- Support jurisdictional tax filing requirements.
- Work closely with treasury and accounting teams to execute internal capital management activities that ensure legal entity solvency and the tax efficient distribution of cash generated by Group companies to the ultimate parent company (DRA Global Ltd).
- Assist with the timely resolution of tax audits and disputes within the jurisdictions in which DRA operates.
- Coordinate expert tax advice relevant to international tax issues linked to the above activities.
Support the Head of Tax - EMEA with operational tax matters, including but not limited to:
- Structuring service contracts by providing tax landscape insights, determining project pricing, reviewing tax clauses, investigating treasury implications, and facilitating entity setup in new jurisdictions.
- Delivering training on legislative changes within the EMEA region and ensuring compliance and reporting adherence.
- Developing and effectively rolling out Global Mobility tax practises, liaising with HR to ensure accurate employee taxation and payroll for short and long term assignments.
- Assisting with EMEA tax compliance activities such as withholding tax accruals and tax credit computations, income tax, controlled foreign company (CFC) calculations, and returns.
- Engage with DRA personnel, governmental bodies, and various external stakeholders professionally and collaboratively.
- Interact with DRA personnel to explain and facilitate tax related undertakings, processes, and operations.
- Communicate and reinforce DRA and team objectives and results to team members.
- Postgraduate degree in Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration - Essential
- External tax courses and diplomas demonstrating broad tax knowledge - Essential
- Minimum 5 years' tax experience - Essential
- Minimum 5 years' deferred tax knowledge - Essential
- Minimum 7 years' experience working within a Finance Department - Essential
- Experience dealing with multiple tax jurisdictions - Essential
